Gear for me is mostly a means to an end, especially tier gear; since BC I
haven't liked the appearance of any single tier set, for any class. Blizzard
went so over the top with the designs I would never wear those things if it was
up to appearance alone. In the end I could never treat raid gear as a trophy
anyway because I don't play MMOs to gape at better geared characters or to be
frustrated with my inability to reach objectives; I play to have fun, to do
things I find engaging and entertaining. To that end, I will mostly only do
things in the game that I find enjoyable, and will treat the rewards such as
WOW gold for anything else as if it
simply didn't exist.
Given that I don't like feeling like the game is a second job, and I mostly
refuse to schedule play time, I'm not the kind of player that can keep a spot in
a raid, so I treat any reward above LFR as if it was never implemented in the
game. A consequence of the above point of view is that I won't do content I
dislike for any reason just to reach content I might enjoy. It does not matter,
for example, how good the rewards for reaching exalted with a faction are, if I
don't legitimately enjoy the rep grind - in other words, if I wouldn't do it
anyway even without WOW gold and the rewards - then I won't even bother
with it.
That is the same goes for raids and dungeons; I only go through them while
I'm legitimately having fun, when I stop having fun I stop doing that content,
and if that prevents me from progressing, so be it; I just unsubscribe until
enough time passes for me to legitimately have fun with the content again, or
until a way to bypass the content I don't want to play is added to the game. PvP
gear progression is the main reason I'm not interested in the least in WoW's
PvP. I play PvP almost exclusively in games that enforce a level field of play,
given the fact that I strongly dislike both going against better geared players
and going against worse geared players. I want my enemy to have a good chance of
defeating me, and to have a good chance of defeating my enemy and earn some
WOW gold, otherwise I simply can't have fun when playing PvP.
